First, check the distance between the brake arm and the wheel when the brake is not engaged. Ideally you want the smallest distance possible between the brake arm and the wheel, to ensure optimal brake power. The optimal distance is 1-2mm, and if it is outside this range then you may benefit from adjusting it.
